Communicate with your child’s instructor. Use time before and after class to discuss special circumstances or needs, especially medical or behavioral concerns.
De-emphasize "passing" or "failing". It’s common for children to spend several sessions practicing a skill. Children will progress at their own pace.
Facilitate practice and review skills at home or during open swim hours.
Have children use the restroom before class.
Secure children’s hair away from their faces.
Greet kids with a towel and warm clothes after class.
Be on time. Absence or tardiness disrupts the learning process for your child as well as others.
Encourage children to do everything, but do not force them to do anything.
If your child is crying or not paying attention to the instructor, please remove yourself from their view.
Be positive and offer praise! Your positive attitude about swimming will encourage your child.
